Bergamont Uses

An oil I recently have come to enjoy more and more, bergamont! I have had it sitting on my self, not doing much of anything useful. Then I decided to reach out to those with a touch more knowledge than myself, and boy are there a lot of uses for it!



Bergamot is the most delicate of the citrus plants, requiring special climate and soil in order to thrive. Italians have used Bergamot for years to reduce feelings of stress and to soothe and rejuvenate skin. In Greece, the unripe fruits are used as sweetmeats, eaten by the spoonful as a dessert or with coffee. Bergamot is unique among citrus oils due to its ability to be both uplifting and calming, making it ideal to help with anxious and sad feelings. It is also purifying and cleansing for the skin while having a calming effect.

Prevents Infections

Add directly to a fresh wound.

Reduces Pain

Run directly onto the area of pain, including headaches. Sometimes two or three drops of a carrier oil is needed.

Relaxant & Sedative

Add a few drops to your diffuser, or a drop on each foot before bed! It really does help!

Aids in Digestion

Use two drops internally when feelings of digestion distress occur.

Skin Care

Apply to your moisturizer daily as a pick me up for your skin!

Reduces Fever

Diffuse and apply to the bottoms of the feet!

Kills Germs

You can wash the wound with a mixture of 10 drops bergamot oil in a quart of water and then apply a dressing with 1-2 drops of oil on a gauze pad. Or add it to your daily cleaning spray.

Speeds-up Healing

Apply directly to the wound two times daily with a carrier oil. One drop of essential oil should do.

Relieves Spasms

It relaxes nerves and muscles, thereby giving quick relief from cramps, convulsions, and painful muscle contractions. This can also be important for people with chronic coughing, respiratory conditions which is similar to a spasmodic reaction.



And… Chest congestion! Like I previously stated, I had no idea Bergamont was good for all of these different types of things, and to think I had it sitting on my self! Diffusing or rubbing 2-3 drops onto your hand and breathing it in works wonders!
